On March 12, 2019 mediaX was joined by Dean Dan Schwartz from the Stanford Graduate School of Education, Professor Jeremy Bailenson from the School of Communication & VHIL Lab and Walter Greenleaf, mediaX Distinguished Visiting Scholar to welcome President Carlos Alvarado and his delegation from Costa Rica to campus to discuss the use of VR and XR in their country.

The delegation included: Mr. Carlos Alvarado, President of Costa Rica, Mr. Allan Solís, President’s Adviser, Mrs. Dyalá Jiménez, Minister of Foreign Trade, Mrs. Gabriela Castro, Investment Director, Mr. Jorge Sequeira, CINDE’s Managing Director, Mrs. Vanessa Gibson, CINDE’s Head of Investment Climate, Mrs. Andrea Centeno, CINDE’s Head of Country Brand and Communications, Mrs. Fabiola Dominguez, CINDE’s Country Brand and Communications Executive, Jorge Umaña, Member President’s media relations staff and Vladimir Sagot, Member President’s media relations staff.

After a tour and demo of the VHIL Lab, President Alvarado and the delegation were joined by members of industry to continue the discussion of VR/XR technology. The industry participants included: Mr. Jim Ratcliffe & Mr. Andy Hartzell from Google, Mr. Christopher Peri of Samsung, Mr. Chris Chin from HTC Vive, Mr. Andy Mathis of Oculus and Ms. Nicole Samec from Magic Leap.
