Interactive Media for Healthcare Professionals

Interactive media and games increasingly pervade and shape our society. In addition to their dominant roles in entertainment, video games play growing roles in education, arts, science and health. This seminar series brings together a diverse set of experts to provide interdisciplinary perspectives on these media regarding their history, technologies, scholarly research, industry, artistic value and potential future.

Parvati Dev, Interactive Media for Healthcare Professionals. When training healthcare professionals using interactive media and games, the goal is to delight them and engage their interest while keeping in mind the principles of adult learning. I will show examples of interactive learning applications across the healthcare spectrum and discuss what makes for learning efficacy.

Parvati Dev, PhD, is President of Innovation in Learning Inc., and co-creator of CliniSpace, IIL’s award-winning virtual medical environment for healthcare training. Prior to IIL, she was at Stanford University’s School of medicine, where she directed an internationally recognized learning technologies lab, SUMMIT, with awards and firsts in multimedia, web and simulation for medical education, and numerous peer-reviewed publications.
