Douglass Carmichael, PhD

Carmichael has a background in physics and psychoanalysis, and has combined an interest in technology, the humanities, and social issues. He works as psychotherapist, teacher, executive coach and consultant on strategic organization, scenarios, and the implications of informatics for organizational strategy and structure. He is active in the design of Internet spaces for the infrastructure to support virtual teams. He works across institutions and organizations, locally and internationally, on issues of the social consequences of economic policy and the implications of future change for individual, social, political, cultural and organizational development. He holds degrees in physics (California Institute of Technology), developmental psychology (University of California, Berkeley), Cognitive Studies (Harvard University), psychoanalysis (Mexican Institute of Psychoanalysis), psychiatry (Washington School of Psychiatry), and management and strategic studies (School of Management and Strategic Studies.)

Ted M. Kahn, PhD

Kahn is the co-founder, President and CEO of DesignWorlds for Learning, Inc. and Chief Learning Officer for DesignWords for College and Careers. Kahn is an award-winning developer of educational multimedia products, hypermedia computer-based training systems and user education strategies and support materials for new kinds of tools for lifelong learning and creativity. Kahn was founding Executive Director of the Atari Institute for Educational Action Research (Atari/Warner Communications), Picodyne Corporation and Digital F/X. His work includes advanced learning technologies research and development experience at the Lawrence Hall of Science  at U. C. Berkeley), the Center for Educational Technology (Israel), Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), the Institute for Research on Learning (IRL), and the Galef Institute. Kahn is a Fellow at the Center for Science, Technology and Society at Santa Clara University. Ted received his B.A. in computer science (with distinction), and his M.A and Ph.D. in psychology from University of California, Berkeley.

Neil Jacobstein

Neil Jacobstein is Chairman and CEO of Teknowledge Corporation, a knowledge systems software company that started in 1981 in Palo Alto. He chaired the American Association for Artificial Intelligence’s 17th Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence conference in 2005. Jacobstein became a Senior Research Fellow in the Digital Vision Program at Stanford University in 2006, and is currently a Distinguished Visiting Scholar in Stanford’s Media X Program. He has been Chairman of the 501c3 Institute for Molecular Manufacturing (IMM) since 1992. He is the principal co-author of the Foresight Guidelines for the responsible development of molecular nanotechnology, and has given technical and public interest talks worldwide on the future of nanotechnology. In 1999, Jacobstein was selected as an Aspen Institute Henry Crown Fellow. He received his BS in Environmental Sciences, Summa cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin, and an MS in Human Ecology and Community Health Sciences from the University of Texas, in conjunction with an environmental simulation program at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Jacobstein was a Graduate Research Intern in the Learning Research Group at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, and a consultant in PARC's Software Concepts Group. He spent four years doing renewable energy and environmental research as a Research Associate at the Center for the Biology of Natural Systems. Jacobstein has served on the Technology Advisory Board for the U.S. Army’s Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation Command, and a variety of industry and nonprofit advisory boards. He has given seven Aspen Institute Socrates Seminars on the opportunities and risks of future technologies. He is a member of Business Executives for National Security, as well as AAAS, AAAI, IEEE, and ACM.

Davis Masten

Davis Masten is chair of the Presidents' Circle of the National Academies (National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine) and serves on the oversight committee for the Division on Earth and Life Sciences (DELS.)  Masten is Chairman of Cheskin.  He recently stepped down as CEO of Cheskin and was formerly Chair of the AIGA Center for Brand Experience and board member of TRUSTe. Davis holds degrees in business and psychology, Davis is a recognized expert in retail, packaging, interactive environments, corporate positioning, branding, and industrial design.

Neerja Raman

Neerja Raman is a recognized author and executive in management research. Neerja is former Director, Strategic Planning and Imaging Systems Lab, Hewlett Packard Labs and currently Senior Fellow at Stanford University, where she is developing business and leadership models for social entrepreneurs. She is on the advisory committee for Cyber-Infrastructure, National Science Foundation and board member of several non-profits. She was inducted into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame in 2005 for global leadership and was recognized with a Distinguished Citizen Award by Federation of Indo Americans in 2006. Neerja’s book, “The Practice and Philosophy of Decision Making” was featured in the category “Books that Empower Women” by WITI. Her research at Stanford has been published in various conference proceedings and as chapter “Eco-Stacking: A Strategy for Success in Social and Business Agendas” in the summer 2007 book “Innovative Approaches to Reducing Global Poverty”. Neerja is a graduate of the Kellogg Executive Program, Northwestern University, and has Masters degrees from S.U.N.Y Stony Brook, New York and Delhi University, India.

Stanley Rosenschein, PhD

Stan Rosenschein is Founder and CEO of Quindi Corportaion; he has over two decades of experience in technical innovation, executive-level management, and entrepreneurial ventures. Prior to founding Quindi, Stan was the founder and CEO of Teleos Research, which was acquired by Autodesk in 1996. He then served as General Manager and Chief Scientist in Autodesk's Advanced Products Group. Prior to Teleos, Stan served as the Director of Artificial Intelligence Center at SRI International and as a Consulting Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University. Stan holds a B.A. from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from University of Pennsylvania.
