FuseMedia X at Stanford University Announces Six Distinguished Visiting Scholars
"Distinguished Visiting Scholars bring their intellect and rich base of experiences to the Media X community at Stanford University," says Chuck House, Media X Executive Director. "They participate in seminars, research initiatives and outreach activities as members of our research teams, and provide important relationship links to our industrial communities."
Media X Distinguished Visiting Scholars will present seminars during the 2008 Winter Quarter. The seminars will be held in Wallenberg Hall at Stanford University. Attendance at the seminars is open pending availability.

Stanley Rosenschein, PhD
Stan Rosenschein is Founder and CEO of Quindi Corportation; he has over two decades of experience in technical innovation, executive-level management, and entrepreneurial ventures. Prior to founding Quindi, Stan was the founder and CEO of Teleos Research, which was acquired by Autodesk in 1996. He then served as General Manager and Chief Scientist in Autodesk''s Advanced Products Group. Prior to Teleos, Stan served as the Director of Artificial Intelligence Center at SRI International and as a Consulting Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University.

Davis Masten
Davis Masten is chair of the Presidents'' Circle of the National Academies (National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine) and serves on the oversight committee for the Division on Earth and Life Sciences (DELS.) Masten is Chairman of Cheskin. He recently stepped down as CEO of Cheskin and was formerly Chair of the AIGA Center for Brand Experience and board member of TRUSTe. Davis holds degrees in business and psychology, and is a recognized expert in retail, packaging, interactive environments, corporate positioning, branding, and industrial design.

Neil Jacobstein
Neil Jacobstein is President and Chief Operating Officer and a director of Teknowledge Corporation. He serves on the Technology Advisory Board of the U.S. Army''s Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM). Prior to joining Teknowledge, he was a Graduate Research Intern and consultant at Xerox PARC, and a Research Associate at CBNS. Mr. Jacobstein received his BS in Environmental Science Summa cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin, and an MS in Human Ecology from the University of Texas, in conjunction with NASA''s Environmental Physiology Simulation Program, and was consultant at Xerox PARC and Research Associate at CBNS. Since 1992, he has served as the Chairman of the board of directors of the Institute for Molecular Manufacturing, a nonprofit organization. In 1999, Mr. Jacobstein was elected a Henry Crown Fellow in the Aspen Institute''s executive leadership program.

Neerja Raman
Neerja Raman is a recognized author and executive in management research. Neerja is former Director, Strategic Planning and Imaging Systems Lab, Hewlett Packard Labs and is currently a Senior Fellow at Stanford University, where she is developing business and leadership models for social entrepreneurs. She is on the advisory committee for Cyber-Infrastructure, the National Science Foundation, and board member of several non-profits. She was inducted into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame in 2005 for global leadership and was recognized with a Distinguished Citizen Award by the Federation of Indo Americans in 2006. Neerja''s book, "The Practice and Philosophy of Decision Making" was featured in the category "Books that Empower Women" by WITI. Her research at Stanford has been published in various conference proceedings and as chapter "Eco-Stacking: A Strategy for Success in Social and Business Agendas" in the summer 2007 book "Innovative Approaches to Reducing Global Poverty". Neerja is a graduate of the Kellogg Executive Program, Northwestern University, and has Masters degrees from S.U.N.Y Stony Brook, New York and Delhi University, India.

Douglass Carmichael, PhD
Douglass Carmichael has a background in physics and psychoanalysis, and has combined an interest in technology, the humanities, and social issues. He works as psychotherapist, teacher, executive coach and consultant on strategic organization, scenarios, and the implications of informatics for organizational strategy and structure. He is active in the design of Internet spaces for the infrastructure to support virtual teams. He works across institutions and organizations, locally and internationally, on issues of the social consequences of economic policy and the implications of future change for individual, social, political, cultural and organizational development. He holds degrees in physics (California Institute of Technology), developmental psychology (University of California, Berkeley), Cognitive Studies (Harvard University), psychoanalysis (Mexican Institute of Psychoanalysis), psychiatry (Washington School of Psychiatry), and management and strategic studies (School of Management and Strategic Studies.)

Ted M. Kahn, PhD
Ted Kahn is the co-founder, President and CEO of DesignWorlds for Learning, Inc. and Chief Learning Officer for DesignWorlds for College and Careers. Kahn is an award-winning developer of educational multimedia products, hypermedia computer-based training systems and user education strategies and support materials for new kinds of tools for lifelong learning and creativity. Kahn was founding Executive Director of the Atari Institute for Educational Action Research (Atari/Warner Communications), Picodyne Corporation and Digital F/X. His work includes advanced learning technologies research and development experience at the Lawrence Hall of Science at U. C. Berkeley), the Center for Educational Technology (Israel), Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), the Institute for Research on Learning (IRL), and the Galef Institute. Kahn is a Fellow at the Center for Science, Technology and Society at Santa Clara University. Ted received his B.A. in computer science (with distinction), and his M.A and Ph.D. in psychology from University of California, Berkeley.
